Malta Carpool

Help

What is this?
A community carpool for journeys drivers are already making. Drivers offer a free ride or agree a contribution towards estimated fuel. There are no fares, driver wages, commissions or surge prices.
How does matching work?
A passenger matches a driver when the passenger's meeting point and drop-off point are both within 3 km of the driver's planned route, in that order, and the estimated pickup is within 30 minutes of the passenger's preferred time. The driver does not have to start or finish near you: you can join part-way. “Arrive by” deadlines, free seats and the driver's limit on extra driving are respected too. These limits are never widened automatically.
Why “meeting point” and “drop-off point”?
Choose a public place that suits you, such as a landmark or bus stop. The app never asks for a home or work address. Other members see only the area until you send or receive a seat request.
What is an arrangement?
Your outbound and return journey together are one arrangement. You can also choose one ride only. You can have one long-term arrangement and three short-term ones at a time, counting both driving and riding. Paused arrangements keep their slot.
Long-term or short-term?
Short-term is one month or less, down to a single round trip or one ride. Long-term is a regular arrangement lasting more than a month, or with no end date. Long-term matches long-term and short-term matches short-term.
What is “Arrive by”?
An optional firm deadline for reaching the drop-off point. A ride is only offered if the estimated arrival, plus a 10-minute buffer, is on time. Estimates cannot guarantee actual arrival.
Can I try a ride before committing?
Yes, on long-term matches where the driver welcomes it. A trial reserves one date only. Afterwards each of you says privately whether you want to continue, and a regular arrangement starts only if you both say yes.
How do contributions work?
The app estimates fuel for the road distance you share: the vehicle's consumption times a dated fuel price reference. That cost is split equally among everyone in the car, driver included. Your share is the most you can be asked for, and the suggested range is at most €1.50 wide below it. Zero is always allowed. You both agree the same amount before anything is booked, and you settle directly; the app does not collect, hold or guarantee money.
How do I cancel?
Under Journeys you can cancel one ride (the other leg stays booked) or one round trip (later dates stay booked). On the request page you can end an ongoing arrangement from a date you choose. Please give at least 12 hours' notice when you can; a later cancellation still goes through and is marked late. A cancelled ride owes no contribution.
Can I travel between Malta and Gozo?
Not yet. Journeys that need the ferry are not supported in this release, and places on different islands are never matched as a road journey.
What does “e-mail verified” mean?
Only that the member confirmed their e-mail address. It does not verify identity, a driving licence or insurance. Drivers should check their own insurer's terms for app-arranged lifts and contributions.
How do I stay safe?
Agree a public meeting point, check the vehicle details shown on your journey, and tell someone your plans. You can block or report a member from their profile at any time.
